Jessica Completes her first Half Marathon

On Sunday 5th October Jessica Redfern completed her first ever race, in memory of her late partner and in support of Melanoma UK and this is what she told us…

“I chose to run for this charity because my late partner, Ben, passed away after suffering from melanoma, and since then raising awareness around skin cancer has become very close to my heart. The day itself was incredible: the atmosphere was electric, and the crowds around Cardiff were fantastically encouraging (I’m convinced at least 7 strangers believed in me more than I believed in myself). The route took us past beautiful views of Cardiff Bay and Penarth which, I must admit, distracted me brilliantly from the fact I was actually running 13 miles on purpose. Crossing the finish line was tough, emotional and massively rewarding, and I was thrilled to raise £800 for Melanoma UK. I’m grateful to have been able to run for Melanoma UK, and hope to continue supporting the vital work they do.”
