Melanoma UK appoints Rachel Wallace as new Chief Executive Officer.
Melanoma UK has appointed Rachel Wallace as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing extensive senior leadership experience across the NHS, BBC, local government and charity sector.
Rachel, who started in post on 12th October, has built a broad career working across public service, broadcasting and the voluntary sector, with experience in senior leadership, organisational change, communications, partnership development and bringing people and organisations together around shared goals. Her career has focused on tackling complex challenges, building effective relationships and delivering positive change for people and communities.
She succeeds Tracy Paine MBE, who steps down on 30th October after two years leading Melanoma UK. During her tenure, Tracy has strengthened the charity’s governance, refreshed its strategy, built key relationships and helped put the organisation on a stronger and more sustainable footing.
Paula Bridge, Chair of Melanoma UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rachel to Melanoma UK. She has the experience, values and collaborative approach to build on the strong foundations now in place and take Melanoma UK into its next chapter. We are also hugely grateful to Tracy for her commitment and leadership over the past two years, which has left the charity in a much stronger position for the future.”
Rachel Wallace said: “I’m delighted to be joining Melanoma UK. Throughout my career, I have been motivated by bringing people and organisations together to tackle important challenges and make a meaningful difference.
“Melanoma can have a profound impact on individuals and families, and I’m particularly passionate about prevention, awareness, earlier diagnosis, support for people affected by melanoma and ensuring patient voices are heard. My first priority will be to listen and learn, and I’m excited to build on the progress Tracy and the team have made.”
Tracy Paine MBE said: “It has been a genuine privilege to lead Melanoma UK, and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together over the past two years. I want to pay particular tribute to the fantastic team around me, whose commitment, hard work and passion have been at the heart of everything we have accomplished. Together, we have strengthened the charity, developed a clear direction for the future and put Melanoma UK in a strong position for its next chapter.”
“I’m delighted to be handing over to Rachel. Her breadth of experience and collaborative approach make her an excellent person to lead Melanoma UK forward, and I have every confidence that she will build on the foundations we have created together.”
Rachel and Tracy will work together from mid-October to support a smooth handover.
