After facing two cancer diagnoses, Luke Rogers from Staffordshire is turning a lifelong dream into an extraordinary fundraising challenge to give something back.

Luke’s life was first changed when he was diagnosed with melanoma. Later, while his son Alfie was still a toddler, doctors discovered a tumour on his kidney. Thanks to early detection, dedicated medical teams and the support of his family, including his wife Nicky, Luke is now looking ahead to an unforgettable challenge.

In 2027, Luke will travel to Australia to take on a Great White Shark cage dive – something he has dreamed of doing since childhood.

Ahead of the dive, Luke is training for his PADI Open Water qualification, preparing physically and mentally, and sharing his progress with his growing “Shark Squad” of supporters.

This is about much more than ticking something off his bucket list. Luke hopes to raise £20,000, with donations shared equally between Melanoma UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK and Kidney Cancer UK. For Luke, the challenge represents facing his fears, celebrating survival and giving back to these organisations to help others.

We’re incredibly grateful that Luke has chosen Melanoma UK as one of the four charities to benefit from his challenge. His story is also an important reminder of the difference early detection can make.

We wish Luke every success with his training and fundraising – and we’ll be cheering him on all the way to Australia!

Luke is sharing his story via multiple social channels and media and we’ll be sharing updates in our socials. In his own words, he is “turning something terrifying into something powerful” …and we know his efforts will make a powerful difference.
