Alexandra Runs the Bristol Half Marathon

On  Sunday 11th May 2025 Alexandra Wilson completed the AJ Bell half marathon in Bristol in honour of her beloved Grandad, Louis Burns, who sadly passed from Melanoma on 31st March 2022.

In her fundraising page Alex wrote, “This half marathon was about more than just running, it was about rebuilding and learning to love myself. I know my Grandad would be incredibly proud of how much I have grown, especially over the past six months, and of the woman I will one day become. The person I am today, and the person I will be, is fundamentally shaped by the love and guidance he gave me for 18 years. I will always be grateful for the foundation he built in my life and I hope I become half the person he was”.

Alex page has currently raised £315 for our charity for which we are very grateful and will be put to good use in the fight against Melanoma in the UK.

Thanks Alex to you and those who have donated, you are stars!

Hurray for the Hackney Halfers !

On Sunday 18th May a group of friends completed the Hackney Half Marathon to help raise funds for our Charity and sent us in their proud medal moment to prove it!

The team have all been affected by Melanoma in different ways and all felt “proud to run in support of such an important cause”

Immy Nieper, Toby Lomas, Laurence Sidwell, Georgie Richardson and Jennifer Lomas,  “all did brilliantly” in their runs and smashed their target. Their total is just under £3,000 !!
Toby said on their Just Giving page, “Every mile we run is dedicated to making a difference”. Well Toby, this is an amazing contribution to Melanoma UK and will help go towards our objectives to do just that in the fight against this disease.
Thank you (and your generous supporters) so much !

Steve battles Edinburgh Half’s headwinds

In Steve’s own word’s from his appeal page prior to his run..

“I am running the Edinburgh Half Marathon at the end of May for two reasons my own mental and physical wellbeing but more importantly to raise money for Melanoma UK. After surviving Melanoma in 2020 I thought it fitting in the year when I will officially be declared completely clear of the disease to raise money for the UK charity”

Thank you Steve for an amazing effort in battling those 25-30 mph headwinds that you were up against at the end of the run. More importantly battling the headwinds you have faced and overcome in your own Melanoma journey.

We are so grateful for the funds you have raised.. an amazing £1,341 at the last count

Thanks to Steve and everyone who have supported him in this !

If this has inspired you to pull on the running shoes Check out our events page , and maybe set up a fundraiser, all proceeds we gratefully receive will go towards trying to make a difference in the fight against Melanoma in the UK.
