All Party Parliamentary Group for Beauty, Hair and Wellbeing makes its case in Westminster

On 13th May the APPG for Beauty, Hair and Wellbeing released its eagerly awaited ‘concluding report’, making a strong case for a National UV Safety Strategy. With Melanoma UK being onboard the APPG from its initial workshop and contributing evidence, our CEO Tracy attended the launch of this important milestone for the UV safety coalition at Westminster, led by APPG chair Carolyn Harris (MP).

The case for a National UV Strategy has 29 recommendations and  includes chapters on

  • Education
  • Public Awareness
  • Cost and Accessibility
  • Protection for Outdoor Workers
  • Artificial UV Regulation
  • Tackling Misinformation

The year long inquiry saw key evidence from charities, scientific institutions, people with lived experience (like MUK Ambassador, Shane McCormick) and industry stakeholders.

Launch day was a great opportunity to meet up with charity colleagues and like-minded coalition members.

The challenge ahead is to fulfil the recommendations and if the coalition succeed, the impacts will be life saving
