A huge thank you to Ryan Mcevoy who ran the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 27th September, raising vital funds for Melanoma UK following his wife’s melanoma diagnosis earlier this year. Ryan’s wife was diagnosed with melanoma after a caring friend encouraged her to get a suspicious mole checked. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone four surgeries while continuing her studies to become a nurse and caring for their four-year-old son.
Ryan said the experience had shown their family just how important it is to be aware of changes to your skin.
“That simple conversation may have saved her life. I’ll always be grateful for it.”
By taking on the 13.1-mile challenge, Ryan wanted not only to support Melanoma UK but also to encourage others to check their skin, protect themselves from harmful UV rays and seek medical advice if something doesn’t look right.
Congratulations and thank you Ryan from everyone at Melanoma UK for turning such a personal experience into something that will help others.
