Adam’s Manchester Marathon Fundraiser

Last year, I was diagnosed with stage 1 melanoma. Thankfully, because it was spotted early, all I needed was two surgeries to be given the all clear.

Although the scar that's now on my neck won't help my chances of winning any beauty contests, it serves as a daily reminder of how lucky I am. I get to come home each day to my wife and girls and see the smiles on their faces when I enter the room. I'll see my girls grow up and I'll be there for all of their big life moments, both in school and beyond. That's something I always took for granted, but if I didn't go to the GP about a funny looking mole my future could have been completely different.

Sadly, more than 2,000 people each year aren't as fortunate as I am. They no longer have the chance to go home to their families. Melanoma is one of the fastest growing cancers, but it is also one of the most preventable and treatable, if caught early.

In April 2026, I will be running in the Manchester Marathon to raise money for Melanoma UK. Their mission is to ensure that no-one faces skin cancer alone. They provide guidance and support to both patients and their families through the treatment process and beyond, whilst also campaigning for improvements in the speed of diagnosis and treatment to increase the survival rate. As well as this, Melanoma UK strives to educate people on the simple steps that can be taken to reduce the risks of skin cancer.

This is a cause extremely close to my heart, and although I was fortunate enough not to need Melanoma UK's guidance and support, many of the 17,600 people diagnosed with melanoma each year do.

I would be incredibly grateful if you could support me and this incredible charity by donating.
