This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking of every kind of mum

Mother’s Day means different things to different people.

For many, it is a day of celebration. A chance to say thank you to the women who raised us, supported us, and shaped our lives. For others, it can also be a day of reflection and remembrance for someone they love and miss.

At Melanoma UK, we know that melanoma affects more than one person. It touches families, friendships, and the people who care for one another through life’s difficult moments. Behind every diagnosis is someone deeply loved. A mum, a daughter, a grandmother, or a friend.

This Mother’s Day, we are thinking of every kind of mum and every family whose lives have been affected by melanoma.

Our work focuses on raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and helping people understand how to protect their skin. The more people who know the signs and understand the risks, the more lives can be protected.

Many supporters also choose meaningful ways to honour the people who matter most to them. Some share stories or memories. Others take part in fundraising events. And some choose to mark the day through our In Memory pages, where a tribute or donation can be made in honour of someone special.

However you spend the day, we invite you to take a moment to think about the people who have shaped your life. You may wish to share a story about your mum or a mother figure in your life, or simply encourage someone you love to check their skin and stay safe in the sun.

Every conversation about melanoma awareness helps more people understand the importance of prevention and early detection.
