York 10 Mile for Melanoma UK

Group of young people holding protest signs outdoors in a garden setting.

Last year, at just 25 years old, I was diagnosed with melanoma.

It's been a strange and challenging year, but I also know how incredibly lucky I am that my melanoma was caught early and treated.

Throughout the whole process, Melanoma UK was a huge source of information and support for me. I used their resources to help me understand my diagnosis and navigate what was a pretty overwhelming time, which is why raising money for them feels like the perfect way to give something back.

A couple of my friends were so adamant that I didn't have cancer that they agreed to start running and complete a race if I did! Well… unfortunately, I was right, and now they're being held to their promise!

So, we are now taking on the York 10 Mile to raise money for Melanoma UK. And if we can turn a pretty rubbish situation — and my friends' questionable confidence in their diagnostic abilities — into something positive, then it will all be worth it!

I know how fortunate I am that my melanoma was caught early, but my experience has made me realise just how important awareness, early detection, research and support are.

If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, I'd be incredibly grateful. Your donation will help Melanoma UK continue providing the information, support and resources that were so helpful to me, as well as supporting others going through their own melanoma journey.

And if you can't donate, sharing the page would mean just as much.

Thank you for supporting us — and for helping us turn something difficult into something positive. ❤️
