“Rachel and I were close friends for many years, we went to nursery school together, we grew up together, we had our babies and brought them up together. We grew apart as the kids grew up and life took us in different directions but Rachel I will never forget you and how beautiful, funny and caring you were. All the good times we had together will stay with me always. My boys thought the world of you.
I used to hope we’d bump into each other at some point, now that will never happen.
I was deeply saddened to hear the heartbreaking news and my thoughts are with Rachel’s family, husband and her beautiful girls who did not deserve for this to happen. Rest in peace beautiful angel 🩷”

My beautiful and amazing wife (Rachel Gilby) passed away peacefully on the 30th May 2026 after a far too short battle with Melanoma Cancer.
After a period of ill health Rachel was diagnosed with an advanced and agressive form of Melanoma which was unsuccessfully treated leading to her heartbreaking end at home with myself and her 3 daughters.
Rachel was an unbelievable wife and mother who was truly beautiful inside and out and who showed nothing but love for all of those who were fortunate enough to be in her life.
Despite being very unwell she showed courage and bravery throughout, and unsurprisingly cared far more about the impact of her passing on others rather than herself.
At the end of her life, we were fortunate enough to spend the time with Rachel at home and I wholeheartedly thank Rachel's 3 daughters for sharing this time with me; it is a time that I will never forget and which I'm certain eased Rachel's suffering. I am happy that she left us knowing that she was loved beyond words.
Although I wish it could have been far, far longer, I am honoured to have had the last 6 years with Rachel, and I will be eternally grateful for them. The love she showed me was unquestionable, and I am heartbroken that it has now been taken away.
The life we had planned and hoped for together will no longer happen, but I will take her with me in my heart and she will never be forgotten.
Rachel, you deserved so much more than life has allowed you, and which has unfairly been snatched away, but please be assured that you were loved more than you will ever know.
I ask all of those who knew and loved her to remember her with fond and loving memories, I know that I certainly will.
We welcome any donation to this worthy charity in the hope that it will help towards defeating this desease and supporting those who are experiencing the same as Rachel.
