Edinburgh Half Marathon For Melanoma Awareness

I am running the Edinburgh Half Marathon at the end of May for two reasons my own mental and physical wellbeing but more importantly to raise money for Melanoma UK. After surviving Melanoma in 2020 I thought it fitting in the year when I will officially be declared completely clear of the disease to raise money for the UK charity at the forefront of raising awareness of the disease and helping those people affected by it. I am unfortunately not the only family member affected by this disease, my uncle Paul passed away from the disease more than 20 years ago.

In late 2020 I was diagnosed with late stage Melanoma and was treated fortunately at the time in the US at MD Anderson in Houston. My diagnosis included identification of a hereditary component to my cancer. More than twenty years ago my maternal uncle passed away from Melanoma and I knew so little about the disease. I am raising money to help change this and make more people aware of the gravity of this cancer and hopefully prevent someone experiencing what I did.
